Carthage is a neighborhood located nine miles north of downtown Cincinnati. It was incorporated as a village in 1868 and sits just north of Elmwood Place. Carthage is home to the Hamilton County Fair which is the oldest continuous fair in the State of Ohio. With 2,733 residents, Carthage is the 31st largest neighborhood in the City.

 

Lasting Legacy

Carthage’s colors are Yellow, Red & Burgundy

Yellow for the vibrant energy of the long-running fairs.

Red for the community council and the business district.

Burgundy for the foundation of commerce and industry in the neighborhood; this color was pulled from the Carthage mural.

Carthage is…

a northern Cincinnati neighborhood that is home to 2,733 residents. A sign welcomes visitors to Carthage in both English and Spanish as the neighborhood has a growing Hispanic population.
